Barbara Durr has managed five apartment complexes for us in San Marcos and in Austin since the summer of 1997. In our thirty years of owning rental property, we have dealt with a number of property managers and her integrity and standard of excellence far exceeds them all.
We live the majority of the year in Mexico, so it is important that we have someone reliable and honest in charge of our business affairs. Barbara Durr has proven to be both of these and has gone out of her way to help us when odd situations have arisen, beyond her scope of responsibility.
She is highly skilled in dealing with tenants and is often able to foresee and resolve problems before they arise. Her efficiency coupled with her understanding of the rental market enables her to produce profits that consistently climb.
Barbara Durr is an outstanding property manager and we give her the highest recommendation possible.
From Lloyd Peterson, Mauna Kai Apartments - Martch 21, 2005
This is a letter of recommendation for Barbara Durr and Durr Property Management. I
am the managing member of Mauna Kai Apartments, LLC. A 46 unit apartment complex on the north side of the University of Texas. We are primarily a student housing complex. Barbara
and her company currently manage our property.
Our relationship with Barbara started in November, 2004. A relatively short period of time, but she has done dramatic things in that period. I do not rally want to talk about our prior manager, needless to say they needed to be replaced. I interviewed five or six property managers
that have experience in residential student housing in the UT area. I quickly narrowed the list to two. After extensive questioning, visiting other properties under their management, and seeing how they interact with their current tenants, I chose Barbara to take over the management
of Mauna Kai Apartment.
This is what she inherited on December 1, 2001. A 46 unit complex with 19 vacancies and 8 tenants scheduled to move out in the next 30 days. Barbara went to work. Her repair and maintenance people got the units into shape, her network of locators were put into action and by the end of January we had 44 units leased. Within 60 days, she had leased 27 units, transformed a complex that was about 50% vacant to one with under a 5% vacancy. The units and complex are in better shape and we have not had one complaint from a tenant since she took over. Her monthly reports are accurate and timely. She is very responsive to out needs and communicates with us constantly.
Oh! By the way, we are now 100% full and working on pre-leasing for the fall and increasing our rents. We are very thrilled with Barbara and what has done so far and feel strongly that we can recommend her to any one that has student housing in the UT area.

To Whom It May Concern:
It has been my privilege and to the benefit of my partnership to have worked with
Barbara and her company over the last year. She has continually given us professional and expedient service and attention throughout our working relationship. She also brings a high level of personal courtesy and a great attitude into every situation. Barbara's greatest asset is her ability to manage the tenants themselves by forming solid and sincere relationships with each one, while maintaining an appropriate level of respect and firmness.
It is my pleasure to highly recommend Barbara & Durr Management to anyone looking for a local, professional and attentive manager.
From Property Owner Robert Buckley
It is my sincere pleasure to extend my highest recommendation to Barbara Durr, and Durr Property Management. Barbara has managed my two apartment buildings in Austin for the past several years, and has become a trusted friend in the process.
When I first purchased real estate in Austin, I was unfamiliar with any of the property management companies in the local area (I live in Oregon). As a result, I relied on my real estate broker for recommendations. I decided to hire two separate property management companies, one for each of my buildings, in order to compare their performance.
After one year, it was obvious that Barbara Durr was the superior manager. She screens tenants much more carefully, establishes clear rules for the tenants (which I think even they appreciate), and generally keeps tenant problems to a minimum.
I’ve also been impressed with how well she knows each of my tenants, their personal circumstances, and can discuss current issues involving the buildings, usually without ever having to refer to notes or files. She makes me feel like I’m her only client, which, of course, I’m not. This is in stark contrast to the experience I’ve had with several other, larger management companies, some of whom could barely remember who I was, let alone my tenants.
I will continue to use Durr Property Management for my current buildings, and for any others I may purchase in the Austin/San Marcos area.
From Property Owner Denice M. Vincent
In reference to Barbara Durr our property manager, Barbara has turned our property around from non profit generating to profit generating. Our vacancy rate has been so insignificant and she is already pre-leasing for upcoming vacancies in the late spring. Honesty, integrity, communication and hard work are part of her daily routine. We are quite pleased with Barbara; we hope to continue our working relationship with her for a long time.
From Tenant David E. Dawkins
Dear Barbara Durr,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and express how grateful I was that you took over as property manager at Chimney Park Apartments. Any problems that occured at the complex were taken care of and you generally seemed concerned about the needs of the tenants as well as the up keep of the complex. This was a significant change from the former property manager.
From Tenant Suzanne Sandifer
Dear Barbara:
On Friday, July 6th, at 2:30PM, during the holiday week, my brand new air conditioner stopped working. After determining that it was not a power failure in the neighborhood, I then panicked at the thought that I was going to be spending the weekend without air conditioning!
At 3:00 PM I reported it to your office and 25 minutes later your representative was knocking at my door.
Now maybe all service calls can’t be that fast, but I want you to know how much I appreciate the promptness of your office in making the weekend survivable. With our Summers getting unbearable it’s a good feeling to know help is not far away. Thanks again!
